USB-IF launched a new USB-C cable certification logo

Recently, the USB-IF Association has officially announced a new USB-C cable power rating logo usage guidelines. It is understood that as early as September 30-October 1, 2021 at the USB Developers Conference, the USB-IF Association has announced a new certified USB Type-C cable power rating logo for use in response to the changing market demand in recent years as well as related standards.

In May 2021, the USB-IF Association released the USB PD3.1 fast charging standard, which supports up to 240W charging power. Subsequently, the USB-C cable standard also received a major upgrade to support 240W fast charging. Under the USB Type-C 2.1 standard, USB Type-C cables can be divided into two specifications: 20V-rated ordinary cables and 50V-rated EPR cables. Certified USB Type-C cables will support either 60W or 240W power as defined by the USB PD 3.1 specification.

In addition to the 60W and 240W power charging cable, the USB-IF Association also launched the Type-C cable logo with integrated charging and data transfer functions, which can be divided into 20Gbps 60W cable, 20Gbps 240W cable, 40Gbps 60W cable and 40Gbps 240W according to the two rate distinctions of 20Gbps and 40Gbps The four types of cables. Similarly, the colorful logo on the left is printed on the surface of the box of the certified cable, and the black logo on the right is marked on the body of the cable.


In addition, according to the USB-IF Association requirements, all USB Type-C cable logos must be used separately with the corresponding power, the corresponding rate of the cable, and the cable must have passed the USB PD3.1 certification test, and published in the official USB-IF list.
