So what's the difference between a 2.0mm male connector and a 2.0mm pitch female connector?

Male and female connectors are very different, as you can probably tell from their name

(the "male") males have an extra piece that they stick into something.

The male has an exposed metal pin that he inserts into a port or socket.

The females on the other hand do not need any help because their holes are there for receiving pieces - usually called plugs!

Or we could say females have holes where they receive something called "pins."

This definition is suitable for all pitch connectors.

Connector pitch (distance between pins)

Connectors come in all different sizes, but they're measured by their pitch.

The smaller the number is for inches between pins on a connector—the lower and more compact it will be to travel through your wiring harnesses or cables.

How to measure the distance between pins?

Method 1:

Pitch is measured from the center of one pin to another(Figure 1, measurement A).

Method 2:

Measuring the pitch of a pin header can be difficult If the pitch is too small, but there are other ways to do it.

Pitch is (A), the distance between the outside edge of the first pin to the inside edge of the last pin (B), and then counting how many pins exist in that section or sector (C).

Then calcualte by using this formala:

A = B/(C-1).
