Wifi Antenna Extension Cable RP SMA

Nowadays wifi antenna extension cables are using RP SMA connectors widely.

The Reverse Polarity SMA (RP-SMA) connector is a variation of the standard, genderless SMAs.

With this type, you can change which pin does what by flipping them over so that male becomes female and vice versa as seen in Figure 1 to Figure 4 below!

The term "reverse polarity" refers only to how we connect our antennas with an interface cable--it doesn't have anything to do with Signal Polarities or even means they're hooked up backward somehow.

The first thing you should know about this connector type is that it's a Jack, meaning its outside threads are designed for plugs.

The second feature of the RP-SMA (F) Connector format is its inner pin which means when using one on your device or radio signal input - instead of facing outward as most antennas do--, it'll go right through their center hole making contact with both metal pieces inside before continuing onward towards wherever they need.

The introduction of the RP-SMA (F) connector was a way to separate professional and commercially available equipment, preventing unintentional or intentional connections between high-gain antennas that are used in broadcasting signals.

Today's technology has made this type obsolete as it can now be purchased alongside SMA females with inside threads on them too.

The RP-SMA(M) connector has the same external housing as a standard or

conventional female SMA, which consists of an outer shell with threads on outside; however it replaces the center receptacle by moving inward to form two metal contacts.

The RP-SMA (M) has threads on the inside like a conventional male, but instead of having an innerpinning in middle like most females do; it features a central receptacle.

The RP-SMA connector is a widely used 2.4GHz (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi), equipment manufacturer, to comply with specific local regulations such as Section 15 203 Antenna requirement intended to make it difficult for consumers to connect antennas and thereby breach compliance.

SMA Connectors are generally seen in use by GPS or cellular network antennas.
